We are proud to announce that, Upsyde Ground Protection Mats are the first and currently only ground protection mats supported by a third-party-verified Environmental Product Declaration (EPD).

Combining high mechanical performance and an excellent price-to-performance ratio with circular design, Upsyde mats contain approximately 99.4% post-consumer recycled material by mass. By transforming difficult-to-recycle plastic into durable, reusable products, we keep valuable material in productive use, reduce demand for virgin resources and provide a more environmentally responsible approach to ground protection.

An EPD provides independently verified information about a product’s environmental impact. For our clients, this means that the environmental performance of Upsyde mats is supported by transparent data—not simply sustainability claims.

The EPD declares a production-stage carbon footprint of approximately 24.1 kg CO₂e per 60 kg Upsyde reference mat.

An illustrative comparison derived from the EPD values indicates that this is approximately:

  • 86% lower than the EPD’s modelled 60 kg primary-HDPE substitution value of 167 kg CO₂e.
  • 95% lower than the EPD’s modelled 300 kg average-steel substitution value of 500 kg CO₂e.

The results also demonstrate the potential environmental value of reuse. Under the EPD’s 100% reuse scenario, one modelled reuse event provides a potential carbon-footprint net benefit of approximately 46.6 kg CO₂e per Upsyde mat.
